A Life of Service and Passion

Nola D Oracle's story begins with her dedicated service in the U.S. Army, where she earned recognition and respect for her commitment and excellence. After retiring from the military, Nola's passion for the arts led her to study Theater, Acting, and Scriptwriting at LaGuardia College in Queens, New York. This period marked the beginning of her journey into storytelling, blending her experiences with a deep desire to create meaningful narratives.
 

Academic Pursuits and Cultural Exploration

Furthering her education, Nola pursued Africana Studies at Brooklyn College, enriching her understanding of African and African Diasporan cultures. This academic journey deepened her appreciation for her heritage and fueled her desire to share these stories with the world. Her studies were not just about acquiring knowledge but about connecting with her roots and inspiring others through the power of storytelling.

Transition to Business and Film

With a Business Management Degree from Rasmussen University, Nola seamlessly combined her creative talents with business acumen. She founded Diaspora Whispers Studios, where she took on the role of CEO, directing and producing impactful films that highlight the contributions and stories of Africans and African Diasporans. Her work in the acclaimed "New Panther: A Call for Action" and the award-winning "African Diasporans Hidden Kulture" film series showcases her ability to create powerful narratives that resonate on both national and international stages.
 

The Birth of "Amara's Adventures"

Nola's transition from filmmaking to authoring children's books was a natural progression of her storytelling journey. "Amara's Adventures: A Trip to Jacksonville, Florida's African American Museums" was born out of a desire to educate and inspire young readers. As an African American author of children's books, Nola brings to life the rich histories and cultural heritage of African Americans through the eyes of Amara, an eleven-year-old girl with boundless curiosity. Amara's journey is not just a story; it is a vehicle for teaching valuable life lessons in bravery, empathy, and cultural appreciation.

The debut of "Amara's Adventures" at the River City Readers Summer Kickoff event was a moment of immense pride and joy for Nola. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity, saying, "I'm grateful for the opportunity to give back to Mayor Deegan's literacy program for children. It was a great feeling to actually present Amara for the first time on June 8th." Seeing Amara's character come to life on banners and watching the enthusiastic reception from children and parents was a surreal experience. Nola shared, "It was just such an amazing feeling. The children were engaged in hearing about what African-Americans contributed to the culture of Jacksonville, Florida."
The event highlighted the importance of cultural heritage and education, connecting young readers with the history and contributions of African Americans in Jacksonville, Florida. Parents and children from different states showed keen interest in learning about Jacksonville's history and exploring local museums, further emphasizing the book's educational value.

Making a Difference & Inspiring the Next Generation

Nola's commitment to making a positive impact extends beyond storytelling. She has pledged to donate 10% of the book's sales to an environmental organization dedicated to tree-planting initiatives. This initiative not only supports the education of our children but also contributes to preserving the planet for future generations. Through "Amara's Adventures," Nola aims to empower a love for reading and learning while promoting social and environmental responsibility.
